Counselling sessions, usually take place weekly, on either a short-term or open-ended basis. I provide a safe and supportive environment in which you can look at anything that is troubling you – whether in your current situation or from past memories and experiences – without the fear of judgement and without the intrusion of someone else’s opinions and needs.
My experience includes working with issues of low self-esteem and confidence, bereavement and loss, drug and alcohol use, recovering from abusive experiences, stress-related problems, anxiety and phobias, and depression.
Paul J MadiganI am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists & adhere to their code of ethics and good practice. I have an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling attained at the CPPD Counselling School in Hornsey, North London.
My main areas of work are: stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement & loss, working with survivors of abuse, trauma & PTSD counselling, short term counselling, working with domestic violence, couples therapy, mens' issues & I have specialist training in working with all aspects of alcoholism & addiction.
My philosophy is to support the wellbeing of the client and the movement towards health by providing a safe, confidential environment in which you can explore, understand and express yourself in a non judgemental space, accepting you for who you are.
I offer time & space, to listen to what you are saying and not interrupt, to help you untangle your own thoughts and feelings, to provide an insight into your thoughts and feelings and to help you express your feelings and emotions in your own way, looking at ways to empower you to work out your own solutions and help you accept what cannot be changed.
